So the house that I'm in is apparently haunted. It's kind of scary yet still really cool. My parent's house was haunted for the longest time, they had the pastor come in and de-ghost the place. Grandma and grandpa left to go do something, and within a few minutes I heard the ghost walk diagonally across the first floor...that's apparently all it ever does. It didn't bother the cats or Ryuu or anything, and I barely heard it from my room upstairs, but it happened. Kind of scary, but not much compared to what happened at my parent's house when I was a kid.
Other than that, we're getting settled in beatifully. Ryuu is comfortable and eating well, she has been keeping out her happy colors so I know she's feeling good here. :) I'm even making a big meal tomorrow! Fish and rice with banana cream pie for dessert. :) I'm so excited, I love fish!
Andrew finally slept the whole night last night, and I've been sleeping like a dead rock (THAT deep). We bought a window fan so there's really good air circulation in here, and I got nice soft toilet paper even! :P It's funny how quickly you miss things like that when you weren't used to having them.
Onward to dollhouse matters!
Andrew told me that as soon as we figure out how much space we're getting in the second room, he'll decide which dollhouse I'm getting. I'm lucky that my local Hobby Lobby has a nice selection of dollhouses. I'm going to show you one today, that I think is nice.
Now introducing the Orchid, a small, cheaply priced kit, that would be perfect for a little display area.

Pros:
* small size will mean I can get it put together and display it in a small space
* price is cheap ($30 plus extras) so it won't be a big hit on the budget
* It's freaking adorable!
* I can customize it however I want by buying trim and extras from the website
* The kit is at my local Hobby lobby, although I would almost want to buy it off of the internet so I could get
all the other materials at the same time.
* Andrew thought it was cute too!
* It would be a good practice piece for me to learn the ins and outs of building the dollhouses.
Cons:
* I would have to add in a staircase and an opening for it (I do have the stairs from my old dollhouse though)
* It's really small so I wouldn't be able to do much for decorating.
* I'm not a huge fan of the front door (that could be fixed by buying a different one of course)
* It's not the sturdiest (comes from being a weekend kit)
* There's no doorways upstairs. Granted, there's not room for them, but it would be nice to have a doorway.
* There's only four rooms.
How I would decorate it:
I'd probably do a crazy cat lady house. Or a witch's house, there's a ton of nice witch stuff on Etsy for 1:12 scale dollhouses. In fact, I made a treasury for it! I combined the themes to make a crazy cat witch!

I would like to credit the website http://thedollhousecompany.com/ for the lovely pictures. They have a LOT of really nice stuff there for cheap too! I refuse to buy things on Ebay so finding an alternate source of cute things for a decent price is really neat for me!
All right, off to get dinner and play with Ryuu.

What an adorable dollhouse! It reminds me of the White Rabbit's house in "Alice in Wonderland". =)

I've done this kit a couple of times and another good thing about it is the instructions are very thorough and clear. Sometimes I feel like I'm reading mystery novels with these kits! But this is a good one.

:) I didn't know that, I'll definitely be asking for it now!
