Deinonychus!

So yeah, more dinosaurs! :)

I am slightly obsessed with dinos, to the point where I slept with a stuffed T-rex named Tiny every night until I was married. And I wanted to be a velociraptor when I grew up for the longest time...
Of course, I also thought Jurassic Park was real, because it wasn't a cartoon, it was real people, it had to be a real place!
Anyways, as upset as I still am at my hurt hand (I keep using it, so it's just getting worse now), I made another dinosaur. This time I made a deinonychus, a large member of the raptor family, these were the "velociraptors" from Jurassic Park. Now, I know these babies had feathers, but I couldn't exactly give them their lovely plumage with beads. He has big yellow eyes, green, beige, and clear beads, and is completely not to scale.

Look at that cute (its hard to tell from the crappy webcam, but I swear he's adorable) face and tell me he isn't a sweetheart. Granted, their main attack was disembowelment, but he would be the most adorable little belly-ripper ever!
Here's what happened when he met Steggy...
They traded bead-ninja riders! Of course, now Steggy's jealous, so I need to make another bead ninja so they don't argue. (Yes I realize they aren't alive...but I have a lot of free time right now, so I've been playing with them)
Well, that's about it for now, other than I made a couple of squids this weekend, one hikisquid, and one owl-squid. Unfortunately I didn't get pics of them, but I will try to soon!

Okay, so I wasn't quite done yet...has anyone heard of a ghetto toy drop? It's where you make something for someone, and they will obviously know it's from you...but you disguise it so it doesn't look like its from you. I know that explanation kind of sucks...but here's the story.
I have a darling friend who is in love with owls...and I love squids...so I was sewing a squid pincushion to match the one I made already...but my mental pattern was off, so it ended up having a beak in the middle of it's face. Of course, my darling husband, when I showed him, told me "Don't tear it apart, just put a beak on it, it's an owl-squid! (friend's name) will love it!" So I did. Then, because we were going to see her at church the next morning, I took the squid, wrote a little "take me home I've been abandoned" note, had my husband copy it in his handwriting, and slipped it onto her chair at church. Other than my husband having to point it out to her (she didn't see it at first), it was a hit. She tied the little owl-squid around her finger like a ring, and went about her morning with it. She also thanked me for the present that was from me, yet not from me... :)
That was a successful ghetto toy drop...though I'm not really loving that name. That's the way I've always heard it....maybe I can find another name for it eventually.
I swear that's all now!
